Video marketing is the talk of town for quite some time now.
You know as a savvy business owner that building a brand through video is a smart move… in theory. Of course that’s so easy to say. When it comes to practice, you probably have a lot of questions especially if you’re relatively new to video marketing or you’re a seasoned business owner with not too much extra time.
You want to make the most of your precious time and get the highest ROI for your business with your video marketing all the while having it be sustainable. Because the only way you’ll keep up the consistency is if it’s sustainable.
Let’s dive deeper into the fundamental elements of sustainable video marketing strategy for your online business.
YouTube is the world’s 2nd largest search engine owned by Google (conveniently the #1 search engine). The goal of YouTube is simple: match the right content with the right viewer at the right time.
If you want to venture into the world of video marketing, starting with YouTube as the main platform to host your video content is a smart move. You get the search engine benefits that allows your video content to live much longer. Over at my YouTube channel “Making it in Holland” I have videos from over 3+ years ago that are still getting consistent daily views. This is such a great feeling because you can take a break from video content creation knowing your older content still has your back.
The biggest thing that holds business owners back from starting on YouTube is how complex it looks from the outside. You need to not just make the video but also think about editing, designing thumbnails and the tech behind the scenes. Contrary to popular belief, I think the most important thing is to focus on what you’re actually gonna say in the video and articulate value with intention. Everything else is secondary and doesn’t guarantee your channel will be a success.
This brings us to the biggest question I get asked all the time – how do I organize the value I’m going to deliver in these videos?
I know you’re probably so tired of hearing “you need to understand your ideal audience”. You’ve done the market research, asked all the questions and know your ideal audience inside out.
Even if that’s the case, hear me out… It never hurts to revisit this exercise before starting to create video content for your business. Every time you survey your audience you’ll stumble upon new nuances that will help to make your video content better. A very practical way of looking at this is to think about the transformation you’re providing to your ideal audience.
Let’s look at the bridge analogy for a second. Your ideal client is standing at the start of the bridge, representing their current reality. They have unfulfilled desires or active pains they’re seeking to solve. They want to get to the other side of the bridge where the transformation has taken place.
There are 3 main things standing in the way of your ideal client from making that transformation happen, and these are mindset, knowledge & skill set. I call these the gaps. Think about it, if your ideal audience had the appropriate mindset, knew the relevant information and had mastered the skills, they probably wouldn’t want to be your client (because they already have the transformation!).
The first step is to identify these mindset, knowledge & skill set “gaps”. These later become your compass during the video ideation process. Once you have these initial ideas, you need to match them with the appropriate types of videos. There are 4 specific ones I want to share with you as part of your sustainable video marketing approach.
The EAT P. is intentionally created to be sticky and memorable. There’s a method to the madness here. So let’s dive in!
The final step of your sustainable video marketing strategy is to create a grid where you match the 3 gaps (mindset, knowledge & skill set) to the EAT Ps.
What kind of evergreen, authority building mini webinar, trend & personal videos can you make around the mindset gaps your ideal client is facing?
What kind of evergreen, authority building mini webinar, trend & personal videos can you make around the knowledge gaps your ideal client is facing?
You get the idea.
The EAT Ps will make everything much easier for you to batch record your videos. You’ll have a flow to follow.
And as you may have already guessed, a set of EAT P videos is 1 month’s worth of video content if you’re planning on uploading a 1 YouTube video per week. It can last longer if you lower your upload cadence.
Lastly, the next step is to maximize your video marketing efforts!
Long format YouTube videos give you soooo much content you can repurpose to your heart’s desires to maximize your efforts (without creating more content).
On average a 10 minute YouTube video can bring 3-4 short video clips of between 10-60 seconds – perfect for IG reels and TikTok.
Transcribe your YouTube video for a blogpost and embed your video in it for that double SEO win-win.
Extract the audio from your YouTube video to create a public or private podcast.
Create catchy quotes or carousel graphics from the main ideas of your videos.
Create a Pinterest pin to drive traffic to your blog & YouTube video.
These are just a few of the main ways I like to repurpose YouTube videos for myself and for my clients over at Video Sales Mastery.
Because I know you’re a creative business owner, I’m sure you can brainstorm other ways you can repurpose this content even further. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me and let me know what other ways you’ve come up with! I can’t wait to hear from you.
